Entering into the rites of pilgrimage upon reaching the Miqat and chanting the Talbiyah, saying: “Labbaik Allahumma Labbaik, Labbaik Laa Shareeka Laka Labbaik, Innal Hamda Wan-Ni’mata Laka wal Mulk, Laa Shareeka Lak” (Here I am at Your service, O Allah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Verily all praise and blessings are Yours, and all sovereignty, You have no partner). The pilgrim continues reciting the Talbiyah until reaching the sacred precincts.
If the pilgrim enters into Ihram, they must abstain from all prohibitions associated with it.
The pilgrim chooses one of the following Hajj rituals:
“Al-Tamattu'” involves wearing Ihram specifically for Umrah alone, where the pilgrim says: “Allahumma Labbayka ‘Umrah” (O Allah, here I am for ‘Umrah). They complete it, then exit the state of Ihram.
- When the time for Hajj comes, the pilgrim enters into Ihram for Hajj from Mecca and must offer the sacrifice of Hadī (an animal to be sacrificed) for Tamattu’, and this is the easier option.
“Ifrad” involves wearing Ihram specifically for Hajj alone, where the pilgrim says: “Allahumma Labbayka Hajjan” (O Allah, here I am for Hajj), and there is no requirement for them to offer a sacrifice.
“Al-Qiran” involves wearing Ihram for both Hajj and Umrah together, where the pilgrim says: “Allahumma Labbayka Hajjan wa ‘Umrah” (O Allah, here I am for Hajj and Umrah). The Qarin performs the rituals of Hajj only, with the same actions as the Mufrid, but they are required to offer a sacrifice.
